No, no, no Lefty. That's not the goalie the Devils are looking for. They need an experienced goalie like Lu. A rarely played backup is not the answer.

Hope you feel better. I think the devils (and Isles) should look into Bernier but especially with the devils, they need experience. They have had Brodeur forever now and how can you put an inexperienced guy in net. I'm just not sure if its a good fit for the Devils.

The only guy I'd want from you guys is a UFA, so pass.

yes it is the answer. Do you know how much potential and how good Bernier is? Yes, he is rarely played but thats because kings already found their starter. In the games Bernier has been tested, hes done an amazing job.

Yes they should target him. If the Devils want to win, Lou needs to put his personal feelings aside and do what is best for the organization. Splitting games b/w Brodeur and Bernier would be a best case scenario for this season and Bernier takes over next year.

First off sorry to hear about your head and hope you feel better.

Of all the teams who could be looking for a goalie I want Bernier to be a Devil. Im not even a Devil fan. Would love to see him behind Marty for a year or so and ease some of that pressure and slowly take over from the MAN.

Id like one of Merrill or Matteau. Outside of those two guys I dont see how any deal could go down.

Dont see a deal happening for a full-fledged starter for at least another 2 or 3 years.

Year 1: Marty and Moose finish out their contracts
Year 2: Journeyman starter signed short term while Kinkaid splits time between NHL and AHL
Year 3: Kinkaid or Wedgewood are given a shot to take the reigns on the NHL squad

If they don't show they have the chops to be our starters of the future after that, we look at possible trade targets/big name free agents

Damn feel better man! Bernier would be nice to get just not sure how we do it without giving away a guy like Larsson, Henrique, Merril, Boucher, and others. Think the price to pay may be to steep for us.

Agree. We need to restock our system, not be taking away from it. Our farm system is all we have to build a competitive team when we know we don't have deep pockets and our UFAs are walking for nothing.

I'd expect the only way Deano will get a LW, high(er) pick, and/or a prospect for Bernier is to pair him with another King in a trade: Muzzin, Brown (yes, Brown), Martinez, and maybe Pearson or Vey depending on the deal in return. Bernier straight-up? Nothing more than a 2nd, considering the goalie market.

I think Deano will fleece one of Garth Snow or Paul Holmgren before Lou overpays for Bernier. He's solid, but you still don't know what you're getting with Bernier based on his body of work. Hence the 2nd round value.

Mind you don't overvalue your own players, Mordecai.

I realize he was a first rounder. But he is a stale first rounder. Coupled with the market for goalies and his unproven track record, if I'm Lou, then I pass on putting proven value into the deal for Bernier.

Hype alone will get more than a 2nd. Not even overvaluing him. I didnt say we are gonna want your 1st and Henrique. He has shown he is ready for the next step. Hes gonna get more than a 2nd. He will bring us a good prospect or roster player.

Huh? This is a big overreaction on your part. "from your lips to God's ears" is a centuries old idiom and is meant no disrespect:

You may not agree with my opinion, and I might not agree with your opinion, but let's not throw insults when it isn't necessary.

Peace.

How do NJ goalie prospects look? I only know of Wedgewood and only saw him in the world juniors. If any of their prospects look to have promise, dealing for a goalie is not entirely necessary. However, if they don't look like a potential number 1 NHL goalie, I would be pushing hard to get Bernier. Perhaps even try to get one of Anaheim's goalies as they have two good NHL guys in Hiller and Fasth and have John Gibson coming up who looks to be a gem.
